Canine Companions..Making a difference..

Hey friends, How's your weekend going? I hope it's everything you want it to be ;)

I've had a great weekend so far.
I work every weekend at a day job that I love.
It's creative, fast paced and I get to put smiles on the tiny and youngest of people to the Big and burly the very old..

On Thursday I once again, had the opportunity to create and donate a cake for a non-profit benefit dinner and auction.

Many of you may be familiar with the organization.

Founded in 1975,
Canine Companions for independence   is a non- profit organization that enhances the lives of people with disabilities by providing highly trained dogs at no charge to the recipient.
They have provided over 5,000 dogs to people with disabilities.

What an honor and blessing to be able to create and donate something for this benefit dinner and auction, from our Family owned local Market.

This is the cake I made on Thursday for the Canine Companion Benefit Dinner and Auction.
It's made from cake and buttercream icing, using an airbrush and buttercream icing (oil painting )technique.
I was absolutely thrilled at how it turned out.
I thank God everyday for giving me a talent that I can share. By day with my cakes and by night with my holiday sculptures...

Thanks for stopping by...
Have a wonderful weekend!

How are you all doing?

We are all doing great here... A few days ago I showed you what was on my work table.
Mr. Frank...

He's coming along rather nicely. While in the studio as I was doing a little sanding on his face, then suddenly while in deep, deep thought, I had an epiphany!!!!
Mr. Frank won't only be nice to look at, but he will be functional as well....
You will have to tune in later for a peek at his new functioning self.

So this is Charlie boy. He is my Baby. I got him one week before Christmas. He is a rough, tuff spitball of fire puppy and then some... Oh and he's Smart!
Anyways, he had a surgery last Monday, he popped hiss stitches two days later and went in for emergency surgery. This time, Charles being an overly active feller, the stapled his belly, then sent him home with sedatives...
So meanwhile through all of this, I've been waking up at odd hours of the night....

I didn't want to resume work on  Frankie until I knew I'd have a few hours of work time, so I did a quick little whimsical painting on canvas board.
I turned it into a fridge magnet.
I love painting freely, whimsically and child like...
Just doing what I feel... My painting is much different then my little sculptures... A little on the sweeter side for painting ;)
I think my next little fun painting/ magnet will me a Unicorn!!!
What do you like to do when you wake up in the wee hours of the morning?

Thought I'd pop in with a little peek at one of my Halloween creations in progress.
This is another Frankie...
I LOVE creating the old classic  monster's.

What are some of your favorites?

I have a few other fun items on the work table and a few more finished items ready to list in the shop.

I'll be sure to let you know when they are listed.
Take care Y'all.... And enjoy your weekend!!!!

Hello friends!
I'm so glad you stopped by.
You are just in time for a give a way!!!
Who doesn't love to win something... Am I right?
I have been creating in the studio with every little bit of spare time I have from work and everyday duties, so I can have just  enough Happy little treasures to open my Etsy shop.
I have always sold on Ebay and have done quite well, but I wanted to try out an Etsy shop just to see where the road will take me. I seriously want to open with a full inventory of Happy Holiday D├ęcor and my projection is May. I'm working hard towards that goal. But, in the meantime I thought it would be fun to have a GIVE A WAY of a little something that you might find in my new upcoming shop. I LOVE Halloween and Christmas so that will be the majority of items you will find in the shop. This little Halloween Ghost Ornament is just one of them.
If you would love a chance to win him, simply click the link and like my FB business page and leave a short comment such as done or liked and you will have a chance to win this little feller.
I will announce the winner Wednesday the 7th at 6:00 pm.

I Turn Into An Elf At Midnight.

Hello Friends!
I am just thrilled that you stopped by today...

I secretly turn into an Elf at midnight!

It's true... Oh yes, I am a master of procrastination.
And these little fellers are what I'm working on for the grandkids.

Every year I promise myself that I will get my handmade gifts done early. Yes, I even promise myself they will not only be done, but they will be perfectly wrapped and neatly placed upon the shelf.

Well folks, it hasn't happened yet in my 52 years of life...
I'm still burning the midnight oil in the month of December.
That's okay though... I kinda like the Elf Suit!

What about you? Do you make handmade gifts?
Do you turn into an Elf Too?

Okay then, I won't keep you from your work...
Have an amazing and creative day!

Hello friends,
So happy you could stop by, and see what's going on here at
Evoke A Smile Studios.
And just maybe, you will want to join in the fun!
Do you LOVE  Snowmen?
Well, if you do maybe this tutorial is for you...

This is one of my past tutorials and probably my favorite from when I was on the Creative Paper clay Design Team. Oh, what a great time I had while working with the team and such an honor.

Most of the supplies used can be found around the house. And it doesn't have to be exactly what I have here. I believe the main subject here, is the old found wood and the Paper Clay. Let your imagination run WILD....
The clay can be purchased here
or at any Hobby Lobby.

And for the Tutorial

Hey, if you give this a whirl, please send me pic's..I'd LOVE to see..
